Prescott Mayor Greg Mengarelli discussed several topics in his updates on Facebook providing important information for the residents of Prescott, Arizona.

As of this morning, Yavapai County has tested over 10,200 residents, with 294 positive cases, 143 recovered, and 5 deaths.

1. Testing Blitz will continue this weekend, with the next one scheduled for Saturday, May 30.
Blitz Testing will be at two locations in our area on Saturday, May 30. This is a test for ACTIVE COVID-19. This is not an antibody test. Here are the locations:

a. Spectrum Healthcare at 990 Will Creek Road in Prescott from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
b. YRMC PV location at the Outpatient Center, 3262 N. Windsong Drive, on May 2nd, 9 am to 3 pm

2. I met with the Governor, along with several other mayors from around the State. He announced that Prescott and all rural communities in Arizona will receive Federal funding, to help Counties, Cities, and Towns recover from the negative effects of COVID-19. This will be a direct payment, with Maximum Flexibility and Minimum strings. We are excited to learn more about this opportunity and will work with City staff and Council to make sure the funds help our local economy rebound and create lasting projects that will benefit Prescott for years to come.

3. The Governor held a press conference earlier today. He announced that that public schools can reopen in the fall, with provisions for distance learning for at-risk students and teachers. He also announced that youth sports activities and camps can open. Finally, he stated that Prescott’s rodeo can go on. We are still waiting for his guidance about fans- how many we can have, and what would need to be done to protect the contestants and the fans. More to come, but this is great news!

4. The Prescott Fire Department and Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority will be enacting our Stage 2 Fire Restrictions on June 3, 2020, at 8:00 a.m. which will also be consistent with the Prescott National Forest and the unincorporated areas of Yavapai County areas not protected by fire districts or area fire departments. These restrictions will stay in effect until we receive significant rain throughout the area to justify lifting these restrictions. Please have a safe summer and visit our websites at www.cazfire.org or http://www.prescott-az.gov/services/fire/ for further information.
