Join the Sharlot Hall Museum in giving your kids the chance to BECOME the artist and the curator in the upcoming “Camp Curation” youth camp. The camp will run from 9 am – 4 pm Tuesday, March 14 through Friday, March 17, and is open to children ages 8-14.

As Pablo Picasso once said, “Give me a museum and I’ll fill it.” At Camp Curation, the participants will expand their skills and discover new talents. Throughout the week, campers will explore different artistic techniques and use them to create their own art pieces. They’ll create pottery, paint canvases, decorate keepsake T-shirts, and more.

At the end of the week, they’ll curate their works into an exhibition, showing their artwork off to a private audience of friends and family. Enrollment is limited, with tickets selling out fast, so register your child today!

“This is the newest camp that the Sharlot Hall Museum has organized this year,” according to Education Program Manager Jenny Pederson. “We’ve been looking to host a camp that inspires kids and gives them a chance to flex their creative muscles, so we expect that it will be a lot of fun!”

The Museum introduced youth camps to its public programming schedule in 2022, thanks to a grant from the Del Webb Foundation. Themes have included the history and building of toys (tied to the past exhibit “Toys! It’s Not All Fun & Games”), theater and living history, and now art and its ties to Arizona history.

“Camp Curation” youth camp will take place March 14-17, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and end with the children showing off their artwork to a private audience of friends and family. Members of the Sharlot Hall Museum enjoy special registration discounts—$95/child for members and $110/child for non-members. If you are not yet a member of the Sharlot Hall Museum but would like to become one, please enroll at https://www.sharlothallmuseum.org/membership/.

Registration for “Camp Curation” youth camp is available online at https://www.sharlothallmuseum.org/event/camp-curation-youth-camp/, by phone at (928) 445-3122 ext. 0, or in person at Admissions.
