On January 12th, Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA) held a ceremony to welcome the new Engine 61.
The new engine, a 2020 Rosenbauer Type 1 pumper carries 1,000 gallons of water and has a 1500 gallon per minute pump. The ceremony took place at shift change and the oncoming and off-going crews, along with some help from CAFMA family, performed the traditional transfer of water, and then pushed the engine into its new home.
The arrival of the new Engine 61 has been a long process in the making that began in 2018 along with obtaining the Engine 58 that was placed into service in December. When asked about the new engines Fire Chief Scott Freitag said, “We greatly appreciate our community and our board’s support to ensure we have the equipment needed to provide the best quality services to all those who need us.”
The old Engine 61 will be placed into service now as Engine 63 and the current Engine 63 will be moved to reserve status.
Congratulations CAMA on the arrival of your new Engine!
