Congratulations to Barrett Mortiz of Del Rio School, CVUSD Student of the Week, March 4, 2022 (CVUSD)

The staff at Del Rio School say that Barett “Bit” Mortiz is 9 years old and in 3rd grade. His sister, Sophia, is also a student at Del Rio Elementary School and is in 5th grade.

Bit was born and Prescott and has lived his whole life in Chino Valley. He’s a super student who loves math, reading, and playing his favorite sport, soccer. His time on the soccer field also demonstrates his strength as a “team player,” as passing to his teammates is one of his greatest skills.

When Bit is at home, he loves to play with his leopard gecko named Lemmy.

While studying his families’ heritage for a class project, Bit’s mom made Udon soup for the whole class. It had noodles and tofu in it and was very delicious. His grandma also brought traditional Japanese candy with a wrapper of rice paper that students could eat! It was a great way to learn about his family traditions.

Bit is a good student, gets good grades, and knows the importance of doing a good job at school so that he can play sports too. Bit has also learned the importance of being a part of a team and that show shows here in his class. He is a great teammate and friend to others.

Congratulations to Bit for earning this week’s Student of the Week!
