The co-founder of Tempe’s Cycling Without Age chapter, Erin Boyd, has been selected as the 2022 Bike Hero for her dedication and commitment to improving bicycle safety and access.
Cycling Without Age aims to engage seniors in bicycling-related activities to counteract loneliness and social isolation. As part of her

work, Erin has secured funding from Microsoft, the Arizona Lottery, Culdesac Tempe and numerous private donors to purchase a trishaw, a three-wheeled vehicle. She also helped organize a Tempe Inclusive Pedaling event to help raise money for the local chapter.

In addition to her work with Cycling Without Age, Erin has helped make Culdesac a reality. As the Government and External Affairs Lead for Culdesac, a car-free community under construction on Apache Boulevard, Erin has embedded herself in the Tempe and bike community. She has advocated for protected bike lanes, along Smith Road, to connect the residents of Culdesac to Tempe Marketplace.

Mayor Corey Woods and the Tempe City Council honored Erin at the Regular City Council meeting last Thursday, May 26.
