Brandon Montoya Talk of the Town Letter

Readers may have noticed that over the past few months, I have been getting outside of City Hall to meet citizens face-to-face around Prescott. I have enjoyed hosting a table at the Farmers Market, and hosting “open office hours” at the Prescott Public Library. I have also hosted a “Facebook Live” segment on the City’s Facebook page and Youtube Channel for those who cannot get out to meet with me. Why all of this outreach, all of a sudden? The simple answer is that I think these efforts are an important way to put a face and a handshake to the City. Plus, I really enjoy it! I have plans to continue these meetings, and I would like to share information about my plans for more outreach.

As a longtime resident of Prescott, long before I ran for office, I sometimes felt that our elected leaders and City officials were disconnected from many citizens. Don’t get me wrong, now more than ever, the City of Prescott is seeking to be accessible and transparent. We have more than two dozen boards and commissions, all public meetings where citizens can attend and comment if they wish. Our Facebook page, Instagram Page, and Youtube channel have never had more followers. However, for many, in-person face-to-face meetings are highly valued, and I agree! Here are some ways you can connect with me:

Farmers Market

Join me for conversation and some giveaways on the first Saturday of each Month from 7:30 a.m.-12 Noon at the Prescott Farmers Market. Sometimes I will be joined by another council member or even the Mayor! This is an informal conversation, so bring your ideas and comments!

Open Office Hours

Join me on the first Tuesday of each month from 3-6 p.m. at Prescott Public Library, in the third floor board room. I am available for a private discussion to hear your comments and questions. No appointment needed, on a first come first served basis.

Facebook Live

On the first Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m., I host a live interview with interesting people from City staff, and sometimes interesting guests from outside of the City. This show is available live on the City’s Facebook page, or you can watch later on the City’s YouTube channel.

Community presentations

My next endeavor will be to present to students and community members at local colleges and schools, with short informational presentations, followed by Q&A sessions. I have several dates planned for September and October.

Please go to the City website Prescott-AZ.gov and in the search bar type Mayor Pro Tem Montoya, for a list of my upcoming community presentations and other City information! I look forward to seeing you soon!
