About Cottonwood’s Vintage Run
In 1992, the Verde Mingus Blowout was created as a way for Cottonwood to engage its citizens in a fun and healthy activity while highlighting the natural beauty of our local area. For many years this race was successful as a 10K, however in 2007, after the unexpected passing of our City Manager, Brian Mickelsen, this race was rebranded in his honor with the addition of longer distances to pay homage to his passion for running.
Since then, the race has continued to evolve to meet the needs of the community. After the 2019 race, feeling that the event had captured the physical beauty of the area through the races, event organizers decided to enhance their event by incorporating the City of Cottonwood’s brand. As “The Heart of Arizona’s Wine Country,” they are thrilled to unveil the new Cottonwood’s Vintage Run.
The four competitive runs: The Half-Marathon, 10K, 5K, and 2 mile, feature the same breathtaking courses that have highlighted the beauty of Cottonwood and its surrounding areas since the inception of this race. Whether you are here for a fast time, or here for a good time, Cottonwood’s Vintage Run has something for everyone!
