It’s been a roller coaster year and we’ve all faced down challenges we never thought we’d face. Heck, let’s face it, 2020 threw just about everything at us!

Going forward into the new year, this is the time to make sure your home is covered for your specific needs and that you understand exactly what your homeowner insurance policy covers. Plus, this will help you know that you have everything you need to cover any curveballs that may come your way.

Most people when they buy their home will also buy an insurance policy that fits at that time. Then they never give that insurance policy another thought until something happens.

When filing a claim this is the time homeowners will have a lot of questions and they try to figure out to handle things and find out if our claim is going to be covered and this is the worst time to worry about getting those questions answered.  At times, depending on the type of loss, the process can be extremely stressful and overwhelming and these situations can be a lot less stressful if you have met with your insurance agent and understand what your policy covers and how it works when disaster strikes.

Do you have enough coverage to rebuild your home in the event of a total loss?  There are a lot of important pieces of homeowner’s insurance, but none as important as that question.

Over the years our families grow and things change. Maybe you did a little remodel and have added square footage or other projects that would change the reconstruction cost of your home.  It is important to notify your insurance carrier of these types of changes.  In addition, we encourage a review of your insurance coverage a minimum of one time per year in order to discuss any changes your agent needs to be aware of to make sure you are insured correctly.

There are plenty of reasons to review and upgrade your homeowners’ insurance policy.

If you don’t? You might find yourself without proper coverage should a disaster happen.
