Now in its 48th year, the annual event is sponsored by the Future Business Leaders of America – Phi Beta Lambda, the largest student business organization in the world. Its primary goal is to help students develop business and leadership skills for a competitive edge in their future careers. Members come to test their knowledge and skills through a variety of competitive events, share successes and learn new ideas about shaping their careers through workshops and exhibits.
At the 2018 PBL State Leadership Conference, 30 students from Embry-Riddle’s Prescott campus competed in the 49 individual and team events, racking up the largest number of first-place finishes (26) and the largest number of total awards (46 first, second and third place awards). This is the 12th straight year the Prescott PBL Business Club has won the state competition since the club was re-established in 2004.
In addition to Embry-Riddle, competing in this year’s event were more than 100 students from Arizona State University, Central Arizona College, DeVry University, Eastern Arizona College, Northern Arizona University, Phoenix College, and Virtual Chapter.
“Eight colleges and universities across Arizona sent their best and brightest students to this competition and once again, our Embry-Riddle students performed admirably in a variety of highly competitive business categories,” said PBL faculty advisor Dr. Javad Gorjidooz. “This level of performance confirms the high quality of our students, the strength of our School of Business programs, and the amazing capabilities of our Embry-Riddle faculty.”
The winners of the state competition are now eligible to compete at the 2018 PBL National Leadership Conference to be held June 23-26 in Baltimore, Maryland.
