SBDC, SCORE AND NACOG are three Yavapai County resources available to help you, the business owner, through this difficult transition period. Small Business Association loans, day-to-day business operations and financial analysis, labor force and dealing with unemployment are just a few aspects that these partners can assist you with to help speed your recovery and your success.

SCORE Northern Arizona—Funded by the SBA, SCORE has assisted over 11 million clients nationally associated with the SBA in both non-profit and for-profit small businesses through mentoring, workshops and ongoing education. SBDC at Yavapai College is one of 10 centers in the state of Arizona funded by the SBA to serve Arizona small businesses. In 2019 alone, the entire network helped launch, grow, and sustain 4,471 businesses, accounting for $876,014,314 in sales, supporting 11,804 jobs.

The network helped businesses access capital in the amount of $52, 945,523 and gain $47,348,833 in government contracts. In 2019, the Yavapai College SBDC served 393 businesses, supporting 545 jobs. Those businesses generated $22,764,004 in sales and $9,529,960 in capital infusion to the local Yavapai County economy.

Since January of 2020, the Yavapai SBDC has helped 242 Yavapai County businesses, primarily with access to disaster funding. The SBDC’s mission is to support local Arizona businesses at all stages of their growth and development, from launch to exit. The SBDC’s services are no cost to the business owner and include a wide variety of tools, training, and other resources to help a small business be successful. Northern Arizona Council of Governments (NACOG) Economic Workforce Development (EWD)– The mission of the NACOG-EWD is to build economic success through workforce development partnerships. NACOG-EWD is the operator of the ARIZONA@WORK-Yavapai County workforce system and has been providing services in the community for over 40 years. NACOG-EWD customizes creative solutions for unique issues including assistance during COVID 19.

Services include the following:

  • Customized resilience planning
  • Incumbent Worker Training for re-training current workers for new position/duties and outreach and placement
  • Wage subsidies up to 75% wage reimbursement for long term employment opportunities and 100% wage support for temporary opportunities
  • National job posting for current employment opportunities, applicant recruitment, and pre-screening
  • Current workshops/webinars for business sustainability

NACOG-EWD boasts a job placement retention success rate of 97%. In 2019, NACOG-EWD assisted with a $9.4 million wage impact invested into local economy.
