John Lutes, who is running for Yavapai County Supervisor in District 1, released a new video entitled “Our Water, Our Future”. In Lutes’ words “Our Water, Our Future is a video that gives an overview on what I think is the most important topic facing us in Yavapai County. It is meant to open dialogue within our community about how we affect the world around us.” The video takes a look at water and growth in Yavapai County and the relationship of our aquifers to the Verde River.

The video includes beautiful aerial footage of our local landscape and takes note of growth plans and the available water sources for proposed growth. Lutes pledges to work with “community stakeholders to do the difficult long-term work to build a practical, comprehensive, county-wide water plan”. Lutes would like to see the state legislature change water policy so that “the county can effectively manage our own water and growth”

During the virtual rollout, Lutes credited studying forestry at Northern Arizona University for helping him to measure and observe the natural world as a system. “The forest is a piece of a puzzle that fits together, and each puzzle piece affects all the other ones. If you change one part of the system, the whole system changes.” Lutes regards this understanding as positively influencing his approach as a gallery owner on Whiskey Row in regards to community, culture, and customer service for his business.

The virtual rollout also included speeches from Cody Lutes Carter, who thanked John for introducing the natural world to her as a child and from Prescott businessman and philanthropist Barry Barbe who urged people to “Look at your view, look at your neighbors and then tell John what you want to see, tell him your desires and I’m confident that those will be heard”
