Prescott Public Library Adds More Ways for You to Borrow Materials

Article audio is made possible by CAST11 Prescott Podcast Network. A Talking Glass Media production.

Despite the obstacles of COVID-19, the library remains dedicated to providing the best service possible. Although staff misses the interactions of the “before COVID” days, many of the services are still available, just in a different manner. In addition to providing access to physical items through curbside delivery and digital items online, the library has recently added ways to allow you to better use the library.

Books by Mail

The library is now able to mail large print books to homebound residents within Prescott city limits who are otherwise unable to access library materials.

  • When you have enrolled in this program, you may request books by phone, mail, email, or you may place items on hold if you have access to a computer or personal device.
  • Books will arrive through US Postal mail service and will have a six-week checkout period. The USPS allows for free-return postage for mailing large print materials for individuals with visual impairment or physical limitations.
  • If you are interested in Books by Mail or for more information to begin the application process, please call 928-777-1521 or email booksbymail@prescott-az.gov.
  • The supplies for this service are made possible with support from the Friends of Prescott Public Library.

Lynda.com

Need a quick video on creating a spreadsheet? How about an instructional video on customer service over the phone? Tutorials on learning to use Photoshop or hundreds of other software applications? Prescott Public Library now offers Lynda.com – an ad-free service that breaks learning down for you into bite-sized videos so you can go to exactly the skill you need. The videos are professionally produced, easy to search for, and FREE with your library card.

Tutor.com

Prescott Public Library is excited to announce that we now offer free online tutoring and academic resources from Tutor.com.  All students in grades K-12 with a Prescott Public library card can use the service to get help with homework, class projects, papers- even test prep! We would love to help your students by providing one-to-one assistance when they need it most.  Online tutoring is available seven days a week from 1-8 pm and can be accessed on the library’s website at www.prescottlibrary.info, under the online resources menu.

All tutors are trained, have background checks, are content experts, and have a confident understanding of the Common Core Curriculum.

To help families access Tutor.com and the many other online resources available to them, Prescott Public Library offers a Student Library Card online application for any student who does not currently have a card.  After the online application is returned, library staff will issue the card and mail it to their home.

If your family has questions about existing library accounts for youth, including how to resolve old fines and fees, please call 928.777.1524.
