“Today is a phenomenal day for Yavapai County” stated District 7 Representative Arlando Teller. He spoke of how the community will benefit from this growth and how he was glad to see people “working together and working with folks that understand the language and understand the need that the extra dollars would do to improve the economy and improve the region and the state…When a person’s medical lifeline is on the line, you have to have a well-built airport to serve that community.”

The theme of community and teamwork was continued on with several speakers, several using sports analogies including a short speech delivered by Prescott Valley Mayor, Kell Palguta who said “the quad cities area is part of a huge team..this is our Super Bowl and this is a huge deal for us.”

Taking the stage in a huge moment of excitement Prescott Regional Airport Director, Dr. Robin Sobotta exclaimed “We’ve done it!” She let out a huge breath and continued “Feels good not to be holding my breath anymore.” She described the adventures of the airport and how she worked closely with the TSA Assistant Federal Security Director Justin Bryant and the FAA Regional Administrator Mark McClardy as well as several other key players to make this growth come to fruition. “We now have the air service that this community has needed for decades!”

Now that work has begun, the new terminal is expected to be finished in the spring of 2021. When it is completed, it will allow for more flights from Prescott to Denver and Los Angeles through SkyWest Airlines and United Express. After a champagne and sparkling cider toast the celebration moved to the construction area where seven rounds of ground breakings took place with dignitaries from Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley as well as state and federal officials, and many others.

The expansion is an exciting development to the community and will allow for so much more service to the community. As Chino Valley Mayor Daryl Croft stated, “The beautiful new terminal at Prescott Regional Airport will provide a more comfortable and efficient place to begin and end your next flight.”
