Please join the Prescott Unified School District to celebrate the GRAND opening of the new Discovery Gardens Playground at the Washington School Campus on Thursday, January 6th at 11:00 am!
With a grant of $64,700 from the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Prescott, Discovery Gardens Preschool has constructed an inclusive playground to assist in maintaining a safe, inclusive outdoor play area for all of its students.
The playground is located at the Washington Traditional location on Gurley Street in Prescott and provides access to all students. With mindful placement of stairs and interactive components to provide easy access for students, this structure will provide a fun environment for students to learn social skills and provide an outlet for healthy play. A covered area will provide for year-round play and rubberized flooring will keep students safe in addition to providing easy access to students with assistive walking devices. Separate but close by, a playful bench known as the “serenity spot” will help children who need a little extra time to transition from the classroom environment to the playground. This space is adorned with playful gadgets giving students the opportunity to be engaged while allowing them this needed time and space.
The Grand Opening of the new Discovery Gardens Playground will take place on Thursday, January 6th at 11:00 am at the Washington School Campus, 300 E Gurley St, Prescott, AZ.
Founded in 1975, Discovery Gardens began as an early childhood education program for students with special needs. Since that time, it has grown as an inclusive early intervention program for all in our community.
Christine Resnick, Executive Director of the JCF shares, “We are fortunate and pleased that we could help make this special place a reality for Discovery Gardens. To think of a place where ALL children could have a place to play, explore, and be safe is wonderful, to help make it a reality is amazing!”
To attend the grand opening, please RSVP to cresnick@jcfgp.org.
