REQUEST FOR ARGUMENTS FOR AND AGAINST THE POSSIBLE CONSOLIDATION OF MINGUS UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT #4 AND COTTONWOOD-OAK CREEK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT #6 TO FORM A UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT OF YAVAPAI COUNTY, ARIZONA, FROM AND AFTER JUNE 30, 2021, AT AN ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 3, 2020

Pursuant to a petition effort and call for election on July 3, 2020, by Tim Carter, the County School Superintendent of Yavapai County, Arizona, a special election was ordered to be held on November 3, 2020, in and for the Districts of Mingus Union High School and Cottonwood Oak-Creek Elementary.

The County School Superintendent of Yavapai County shall prepare and mail an informational pamphlet, including a consolidation plan, to the voters in and for the Districts of Mingus Union High School (which includes the two feeder districts of Cottonwood Oak-Creek Elementary School District #6 and Clarkdale-Jerome Elementary School District #3) and Cottonwood Oak-Creek Elementary. The informational pamphlet will include arguments for and against the authorization of the possible consolidation of Mingus Union High School District #4 and Cottonwood Oak-Creek Elementary School District #6 to form a unified school district from and after June 30, 2021, to be considered at the Election. If consolidation of Mingus Union High School District #4 and Cottonwood-Oak Creek District #6 is approved by the voters, Clarkdale-Jerome Elementary School District #3 will remain unchanged as a separate and district political subdivision.

Any person interested in providing an argument for or against the proposed consolidation is hereby requested to provide the typed or word-processed statement of no more than 200 words to Tim Carter, Yavapai County School Superintendent, at 2970 Centerpointe East Drive, Prescott, Arizona 86301, before 5:00 p.m., Arizona time on July 23, 2020.  Items may be emailed to tim.carter@yavapai.us.
