On Tuesday, September 18, 2018 the Salvation Army is holding its 125th Year in Prescott and Awards Dinner, “Be a Shield,” to recognize people who have made significant contributions to the welfare of the quad-city area.

This year the Salvation Army recognizes the Fain Family with the “Others Award.” Since settling in what is now Yavapai County in 1874, the Fain Family has been a faithful steward of the land and its resources. For five generations the Fain Family vision has led to the development of the area of Lonesome Valley which is now called Prescott Valley. The Fains are known for their civic service and major land donations to the quad-city area.

“The Others Award is a very prestigious award from the Salvation Army that is offered to people in the community who have upheld the standards of the Salvation Army but not necessarily been active in the Salvation Army itself,” Chairman of the Celebration Committee Chuck Cone said. “We looked at a number of deserving families and people in the general quad city area and The Fain Family was clearly very well deserving of the award. We like what they have done for the community and so we picked them as most deserving this year.”

Col. Kenneth Hodder, Commander of the Southwest Territory of the Salvation Army will be the featured speaker.
Dinner will begin with a Salvation Army “cup of broth” starting at 6 PM at the Elks Theater on Gurley Street in Prescott. Dress is business casual, but guests are invited to dress as they would in the 1890s.

Contact Salvation Army at 928-778-0150 or any member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board to order your tickets.  Individual tickets are $60/person.
