The Spring season is a welcome opportunity for many to make positive changes and celebrate growth. As the weather gets warmer and we take on a new season, it is important to keep in mind our senior loved ones. For many seniors, the increased daylight is a welcome benefit, and an opportunity to prioritize the health and well-being of seniors. Here are three ways you can support senior loved ones as we welcome in a new season.
- Volunteer to lead gentle exercise or walks. If you have fitness expertise or simply enjoy brief walks, consider reaching out to a local senior community center, church, or other community organization to lead gentle exercise classes or take group walks with seniors. You can also offer to take a brief walk with a senior neighbor or relative, or send video demonstrations of guided activity to a loved one or community organization.
- Donate gently used clothing or household items. For many people, springtime is an opportunity for spring cleaning. As you go through your household items to make way for a new season, consider setting aside a pile of gently used clothing or household items to donate to Hospice Charities and Elderly Charities or local charities.
- Make a donation to the Visiting Angels Foundation. Our mission is to ensure that all seniors receive the quality care they deserve. Your donations allow us to continue to support organizations that ensure the health and wellbeing of all seniors, regardless of financial situation. Visit our website today to donate.
