U.S. law now states that anyone wanting to fly on a domestic commercial airliner will have to possess a federally compliant Travel ID by October, 2020.  If you choose not to have a Travel ID by Oct 2020, you can use a valid U.S. Passport, but that means you’ll have to carry two forms of ID at all times (Drivers License & Passport) if you’re traveling – sounds cumbersome to many. Additionally , if you want to enter a U.S. military base, federal building (courthouses), or nuclear facility, you’ll also need either a federally compliant Travel ID, or, your current Drivers License AND a valid U.S. passport.
