Sirhan, a Palestinian who was upset of Kennedy’s support of Israel during the Six Day War, wanted revenge.

The trial was a train wreck. Sirhan did not hide his guilt, even though the judge tried to have this dismissed. Sirhan even tried to get rid of his council. In the end, they found him guilty, and sentenced him to the gas chamber. However, the state of California does not have the death penalty. Recently, the world was shocked to hear that Sirhan was granted parole, though thanks to public outrage, it was denied. 53 years ago today, an assassin was given the death sentence, yet remains in jail today.
