Two Roughrider Pitchers Combine In Shutout Victory Against Glendale CC

The Yavapai College Roughrider baseball team defeated Glendale Community College, 13-0 on Friday afternoon at Roughrider Park as two pitchers combined to throw a one-hit shutout. YC bats pounded 16 hits en route the lopsided victory.

Yavapai got on the board in the first inning when Christian Encarnacion-Strand doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

YC tallied four runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Daniel Martin and a home run by Encarnacion-Strand.

Matt Novis took the win for the Roughriders. He lasted five innings, allowing one hit and no runs while striking out seven. Clark Eder threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

The Roughriders knocked two home runs on the day. Tyler Boggs had a long ball in the fifth inning. Encarnacion-Strand went yard in the fourth inning.

YC had 16 hits in the game. Jack Silverman, Boggs, Amari Bartee, and Encarnacion-Strand all managed multiple hits. Silverman led Rider bats with three hits in four at bats.

These same two teams will play again on Saturday, February 1st in a non-league doubleheader. The first pitch will be thrown at 12:00 PM at Roughrider Park in Prescott.
