The Yavapai College volleyball team is excited to announce the addition of five student-athletes to their 2022 roster.
Meet The Class
Ella Simon
High School: Simon graduated from Mountain Ridge High School in May of 2022. As a senior, she led the team in blocking while setting the school record with 68 blocks that season.
Personal: Simon was born in Phoenix, Arizona, on December 7, 2004. Her hobbies include dancing and hanging out with her friends and, in the future, she plans to study physical therapy.
McKenna Redig
High School: Redig graduated from Ash Fork High School in May of 2021. She earned MaxPreps/AVCA Player of the Week honors once during the 2020-21 season in addition to Honorable Mention Second-Team honors.
Before 2022: Redig is also taking classes at Embry Riddle in addition to earning an associates degree from YC in 2021.
Personal: Redig was born in Mesa, Arizona, on February 11, 2003. Her hobbies include hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, going to the lake and paddle boarding. In the future, she plans to earn a degree in aerospace engineering from Embry Riddle.
Abby Whatton
High School: Whatton graduated from Canyon Del Oro High School in May of 2022. While at CDO, Whatton earned Freshman of the Year, First-Team All-Southern AZ, First-Team All-Conference, First-Team All-Region and Offensive Player of the Year honors while being a member of the National Honors Society.
Personal: Whatton was born in Tucson, Arizona, on June 9, 2004. In the future, she plans to minor in communications, major in business management and earn a master’s degree.
Ines Siyuja
High School: Siyuja graduated from Seligman High School in May of 2022 and will serve as YC Volleyball’s manager during the 2022 season.
Personal: Siyuja was born in Flagstaff, Arizona, on October 16, 2003. Her hobbies include basketball, volleyball, softball, cheer, soccer, camping, hiking, off-roading, riding horses, playing with her dogs, reading, journaling and spending time with her friends and family. In the future, she plans to study nursing and eventually go to medical school.
In addition, Saydee Allred of the Yavapai College women’s basketball team is set to join the volleyball squad in 2022.
