YC Volleyball Sophomores Head to Next Level

Four sophomores from the 2021 YC volleyball squad of Prescott are heading to the next level to continue their academic and volleyball careers: middle blocker Paiten Langston, libero Brooklyn Holland, right-side hitter Shea Marovich, and setter Natalie Horsley.

“I will always remember this group of players partly because they helped our program get through the pandemic and come out strong on the other side,” Head Coach Zachary Shaver said. “They played two full seasons of collegiate competition in a 10-month period which would normally have taken 16 months. They were a hardworking and determined group of individuals who came together under difficult restrictions and became a championship team.”

All four student-athletes were members of the 2020-21 squad that earned an ACCAC Championship, Region Championship and District Championship en route to an appearance at the national tournament. During the fall season in 2021, Langston, Holland, Marovich and Horsley also helped lead the Roughriders to an appearance in the NJCAA Division I Region I Championship match.

Paiten Langston

Hailing from West Jordan, Utah, Langston is off to Montana State University Billings to continue her college volleyball career. As a sophomore at YC, Langston led the conference in blocks-per-set with 1.25 and tallied 115 total blocks en route to earning First-Team All-Region honors. In addition, she tallied 109 kills and 43 digs.

Brooklyn Holland

Holland, from Gilbert, Arizona, is taking her talents to Colorado State University Pueblo. During her sophomore campaign, she led the Roughriders in digs with 378, a mark that placed her fourth in the conference. She also tallied 38 assists on the season.

Shea Marovich

Coming to YC from Chandler, Arizona, Marovich is now off to Ottawa University in Surprise, Arizona, to continue her college volleyball career. During her sophomore season at YC, Marovich tallied 90 assists and 46 digs.

Natalie Horsley

YC Volleyball, Yavapai College, Prescott, volleyball, roughriders athletics, local
A South Jordan, Utah, native, Horsley is continuing her college volleyball career at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. During her sophomore season at YC, she logged 359 assists and 166 digs.
