Three former Roughrider baseball players were selected in the 2021 Major League Baseball Draft. Going in the third round to the New York Mets, from Dallas Baptist University, pitcher Dominic Hamel. Dominic played for the Roughriders 2017-19 compiling a 12-8 overall record while striking out 159 batters.

Yavapai College Soccer’s Tucker Fenton Named All-American

For his efforts in the 2021 Spring Soccer season, Roughrider forward Tucker Fenton was named to the NJCAA Division I First Team All-American. He becomes the 43rd player in Roughrider soccer history to be named an NJCAA All-American.

Griner Named Western Conference Player of the Week


2014 WNBA Champion, two-time Defensive Player of the Year, and two-time WNBA scoring leader Brittney Griner was named the Western Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league office today. It’s the ninth career honor for Griner, the second-most by a Mercury player in franchise history (Diana Taurasi, 20).

In the final regular-season doubleheader, the Roughrider softball team swept their eighth consecutive ACCAC doubleheader over the Eastern Arizona College Gila Monsters, 9-4 and 15-1.

The Roughrider softball team ran their winning streak to 14 Tuesday afternoon with victories over Arizona Western College at Bill Vallely Field, 11-2 and 18-10. The doubleheader is the final regular-season home game of the 2021 season. Yavapai is now 30-5 on the season and 25-2 in ACCAC play.
