Prescott resident and award-winning composer Henry Flurry brings his talents home with Currents– an emotional, evocative piano and orchestral concerto that chronicles the impact and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Also featured on the program are a new Grand Canyon inspired work honoring Yavapai College’s 50th anniversary, a 2012 composition celebrating Arizona’s centennial, the official Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra Fanfare, and the lighthearted Ragtime Dances for Marimba and Orchestra. This inaugural concert of Prescott’s professional orchestra features special guests Peter Bay, conductor, James d’Leon, pianist, and Maria Flurry, marimbist.
