Beginning Oil Painting – Virtual Live Online Class

Prescott Valley Public Library in partnership with Silverkite Community Art Classes presents Beginning Oil Painting on Saturday, August 12th, 2023, at 10:30-11:30 am art class for adults. Unlock your creativity and dive into the vibrant world of oil painting in this beginner-friendly workshop. Learn essential techniques, color mixing, and brushwork to create stunning art on canvas.

Materials:

• Oil paints (a basic set of colors including primary colors – red/yellow/blue and white)
• Brushes (variety of sizes and shapes including flat, round, and filbert)
• Palette (either a wooden palette or disposable palette paper)
• Palette knife (for mixing paints)
• Canvas or canvas boards (various sizes)
• Easel or painting surface (to hold your canvas while painting)
• Mediums (such as linseed oil)
• Gamsol (for thinning paints and creating different effects)
• Palette cups or containers (for holding and cleaning brushes)
• Rags or paper towels (for cleaning brushes and wiping excess paint)
• Painting palette or mixing tray (for mixing colors)
• Brush cleaner for washing brushes when finished painting
• Apron or old clothes (to protect your clothing from paint splatters)
