Is your child a passionate animal lover but not quite old enough to volunteer? Reading Fur Fun is a special reading program that gives children the opportunity to improve their reading skills by enriching the lives of shelter dogs! Children ages 8-11 can sign up to read to our dog friends at our Nina Mason Pulliam Campus for Compassion. This helps students practice reading and teaches important socialization skills to our dogs awaiting adoption. AHS will have a selection of books on hand, but kids are welcome to bring their own. Your child can even wear their favorite storybook character costume!
Details: Each program will allow five participants, who can be accompanied by one adult guardian each. Adult presence is not required and kids can be picked up following the program. No additional guests will be permitted. We will be following CDC guidelines and all attendees will be required to wear masks. To protect the health of your family and our staff, we will maintain social distancing during Reading Fur Fun programs. Our instructors will also be temperature tested prior to the start of the program. For questions, contact education@azhumane.org.
    Ages: 8-11
Registration: $10 per child. The fee for registering your child for Reading Fur Fun is non-refundable. If your child needs to cancel, the registration will be converted to a tax-deductible donation.
